The XIIIs has been home to many new experiences and fun memories that everyone will remember forever. One of the most memorable things we did this year was go to Chicago. Obviously, Chicago is one of the most exciting and important trips of the XIIIs like the Country Trip is for the IXs. So, of course, I have a lot of memories from it.
Since we went during the worst time of the year, there was a Polar Vortex during two of the days we were in Chicago. During our one and a half days in the hotel, we got to hang out with each other in our rooms. I got to hang out with friends that I normally don’t get to spend as much time with and just watch movies and talk. The whole trip was fun, but those were some of the best moments.
In Chicago, we also went to a bunch of museums such as the Art Institute where there were many famous pieces of art such as American Gothic, The Old Guitarist, and a number of Picasso’s paintings.
In my first year at C&C, which was the VIs, I got an amazing opportunity to be one of the chefs in the Color Cafe. The two other chefs were Lilly and Jack who I didn’t really know at the time because I was so new yet they were still nice to me. When we were in the kitchen, our teacher, Erin, taught us how to make the foods that we offered at the cafe such as s’mores cake, which was probably the most fun to make for obvious reasons. The pancakes were by far our most popular food, and our soup was healthy so it wasn’t as popular as other things. It was a wonderful experience to have for a newcomer to the school. It made me feel welcome and happy that I had made the right choice going here.
