Voter Registration in America

December 14, 2018

Voter fraud has been a recurring theme in many of the past elections, especially in the 2016 presidential election. It has again come up in the Midterm elections in Georgia, Florida, and other states. In one case in Arlington, Virginia, a “situation room” was created to make sure that the Midterms would be the safest election in the past years. In the room, there were representatives from all places, including representatives from major voting machine manufacturers, representatives from major companies like Facebook, Microsoft, the National Association of Secretaries of State, and the National Association of Election Officials.

There is a clear example of this possible voter fraud going on in states like Georgia and Florida, where the races there are getting so close. The Democratic representative Stacey Abrams in Georgia, was at one point 1,778,150 votes behind the Republican Brian Kemp. Stacey Abrams stated that the reason she is behind on so many of these votes is that Black people of Georgia that have not registered as voters, for various reasons,

such as,  are not being permitted to get voter permits.

In Georgia, Brian Kemp the Republican nominee was charged with the task to oversee his own election. He made sure to refuse the efforts to restore millions of voters. This has been happening from 2012-2016, where most of the discrepancies coming from their addresses, names, or voter histories. Surprisingly, Kemp is so sure of his win in the race that he has already resigned from his former job in office, Secretary of State. Then on Sunday, Stacey Abrams filed a class-action suit to delay certification of the election until every last vote is counted. Soon after, President Donald Trump weighed in saying, “Stacey Abram’s antics . . . a disgrace to democracy.” and, (Brian Kemp), “ran a great race in Georgia—he won! It is time to move on.”

A very similar thing to this is happening in Florida with the senate race there. One large amount of votes came in recently and trump is siding with the Republicans saying, “The Florida election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged,” but examinations has have come out saying in fact there have been no signs of tampering.
