Recently, three City and Country School faculty members welcomed new additions to their families: babies. Matthew Payne, Director of Communications, and Walt Shepard, Director of Facilities, said hello to baby girls while Jay Frankel, VIIIsJ teacher, welcomed a baby boy.
You may have heard from Scott Moran’s, school principal, announcement that on September 18 of this year, Matthew Payne, Director of Communications, welcomed Stella Dale Iaria Payne. She weighed 6 pounds and 8 ounces.
At birth, Stella’s hair was wild and crazy and made the family laugh with joy. It was playfully messy and spiked in different directions.
“Her hair is somewhat extraordinary,” said Matt about Stella’s whimsical brown hair.
Matthew’s other daughter, Molly, 6 years old, was elated to have a baby sister. She smiled as she held baby Stella in her arms for the first time.
“Molly was chuffed to have a new sister,” said Matt.
Stella’s middle name, Dale, is also Matt’s middle name and has been in the family for 4 generations.
Matt is enthusiastic about his new daughter and is already accustomed to this wonderful addition. Matt will not be at City and Country School from Winter break through March. He will return on April 1st.
Jay Frankel, VIIIsJ teacher, and his wife, Christina, welcomed their first baby, Charles on October 18. He weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces.
Throughout the two months that Jay has had Charles, he loved getting to know his personality and watching him grow. Charles has already reached a few “baby milestones.” He knows how to smile and make eye contact with people, something Jay is very proud of.
Jay said that Charles is a well-behaved baby, and is getting accustomed to his new lifestyle.
“It’s a simple life babies have,” said Jay, with a laugh.
Jay will take time off in January to spend more time with little Charles.
On Sunday, November 25, Walt Shepard, Director of Facilities, and his wife Kelli welcomed their second child, Evangeline Rose Shepard. She weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces.
Lilia Shepard, Walt and Kelli’s first daughter, had her birthday in October and a month later, Evangeline was born. It was difficult for Lilia to get used to a new baby sister, at first. She did not like it when she cried and was afraid that she would receive too much attention. However, Lilia learned to love Evangeline. Lilia gives her kisses and shares her stuffed animal with her.
“One of the sweetest things is she has a little sheepskin bear. It’s nice to see Lilia share her bear with the baby,” said Walt.
Walt and his family are happy with Evangeline Rose Shepard and cannot wait to spend more time with her during winter break.
Overall, these three fathers were blessed with new babies these last few months. Make sure to congratulate Matt Payne, Jay Frankel and Walt Shepard on their new family members.
