The XIIs Are Tested In New Ways

The XIIs have continued with their busy year as they reach their third month of school.

In Social Studies, the XllsP have been working on their Myth memoirs. This process consists of first gathering information about a Greek character that they chose, organizing information into different categories, and then writing 3 chapters. Each chapter has to be two pages long for a total of 6 pages when the XIIs are finished writing. This process will take up the majority of the semester, and there goal is to be done by winter break. Currently, they are taking notes and organizing their information. Miles Adjmi, XIIsP said, “I’m very excited because this process is like our own.” Meanwhile, the XllsS have continued their reading of the Greek epic, the Iliad, and are now towards the middle. They have also begun to draw greek vases that will hang in the classroom for the rest of the year.

In Spanish, the Xlls are working on presentations about various famous Spanish artists like El Greco, Pablo Picasso, and Frida Kahlo. In Math, the Xlls have continued their learning on the Pythagorean Theorem and Pythagorean Triples, and have started to look at and make the Wheel of Theodorus.

The IVs are a very fun job for the Xlls. Lucas Gannon, XllsP, said “The IVs are miniature people.” Camille Sullivan, XllsS, said,“They’re so cute!” Currently, the Xlls are making a feelings book for the IVs, where each XII was assigned a different feeling such as happy, sad, angry, or mixed. They are also walking the IVs down the stairs for dismissal each day.

On Thursday October 25th, the XIIs took a practice test, the CTP level 6. Many of the XIIs found the test stressful, and a lot harder than the previous one. This is the second time the Xlls have taken a practice test, since their first one in the XIs. “I felt confident before, but now I feel like I could have done a lot better, and I could’ve tried harder.” Elijah said.

While the XIIs have begun to face some challenges, they are trudging forward in their year.
